Learning British Sign Language in Year 5 Form Time

Every morning BSA students go to their form room for registration. Students work with their teachers to decide how they would like to spend this time. Together with their teacher Mr Sidali, Year 5 students decided they would like to learn sign language. Here is an update from their teacher:

The sign language lessons with Year 5 are going amazingly well! I started this week on Sunday, and the students can already sign (fingerspelling) their names and their full family names, as well as the different members of their families.

Today, I introduced how to sign important words, such as different family members and how to count using their fingers. The students are enjoying it as you can see from their comments below. Even some teachers have joined in to learn as well!

Sign language is a good hobby to try and learn, and if you do try, you can use it in the future. You could use it if you have a deaf person in your family or if you find someone who is deaf.

Ramadan at BSA

Our Student Council across all phases took part in a donation campaign through the month of February to collect dried and canned goods to help those less fortunate during the month of Ramadan. Together, they took the donations to the Scouts Association of Algeria and helped to prepare the community Iftar and also make donation bags to give to families in the community who can't afford to buy food during the month of fasting.
